My Photography Meditations
I am a dedicated fine art photographer passionately capturing moments on film. My journey began with digital photography which I found thoughtless, too fast, overly technical, and ultimately artificial compared to the authentic and deliberate process of shooting on film. I quickly became fascinated by texture and unpredictability of film photography, leading me to specialize exclusively in this medium. I photograph, process, and print all of my work independently. Every image I make is controlled entirely by me. I have a particular affinity for Polaroid instant photography, using the finest vintage equipment to create unique and timeless images. My work spans various photographic genres, including street, landscape, portraiture, documentary, and architecture. Each frame is a meticulous composition, blending my technical skills with an artistic vision inspired by cinema, modern art, and the great photographers of history.
Inspirations and Influences
My work is deeply influenced by a diverse array of artistic sources. I’m inspired by the dreamlike, cinematic masterpieces of Andre Tarkovsky, whose poetic imagery and profound storytelling echo in my visual narrative. The abstract shapes and vibrant colors of modern artists like Wassily Kandinsky, Joan Miro, and Piet Mondrian inform my sense of composition and use of color. Additionally, the raw, authentic perspectives of street and documentary photographers such as Henri Cartier Bresson, Walker Evans, Joseph Kudelka, and Dorothea Lange influence my approach to capturing the human condition. Through their influence, I strive to create images that transcend time, offering viewers a glimpse into the essence of the subjects I photograph.
